    Gregory Abraham Fletcher
    #1
    In Character
    Full Name: Gregory Abraham Fletcher

    Nicknames: Greg

    Birthdate: 3rd March, 1815

    Current Age: 67

    Occupation: Auror

    Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff Alumi

Wand: 10 1/4" Hornbeam, rather rigid with an Ashwinder Ash core. It has a spiraling carve flowing from the tip of the wand down to the grip giving the illusion that the wand is alive and moving, so to speakùespecially when light reflects along the grooves.

    Blood Status: Pure Blood

    Social Class: Middle Class

Family: His father, Robert, died at the age of 42 whilst on duty from the ministry to find a murderer. His mother, Esmerelda, died in 1881 aged 90. There is no other family of relevance to Gregory.

Appearance: Starting from the top of Gregory, it is clear that he has fairly long, light grey hair that drops to his shoulders and it has a wiry feel to it. His hair appears to always look scruffy and unkempt. Gregory's eyes are a sky-blue in colour and although he doesn't need to wear glasses, he often wears a pair of thin wire-framed ones (mainly when he is reading). Gregory nearly always has a content smile drawn across his wrinkle covered face. His cheeks are often reddened slightly.

Moving downward and you can see his build is not very big; he is just under six foot and weighs about 175lbs. Being the age that he is, his body has deteriorated and has become fairly fragile in terms of his bone strength and the like. The back of his hands are covered with vine-like shapes from his veins due to his thin frame. His skin is slightly tanned in colour but doesn't appear to tan very well in his more recent years; Gregory, if prolonged exposure to the sun occurs, often burns then returns to his tanned-like complexion.

His legs are the same with regard to their build and because of this, Gregory tends to move quite slowly. He isn't very athletic and he isn't very strong either. However, despite this, he is not slow at casting spells and the like; his training as an Auror has given him quick reactions and good dueling expertise.

Gregory is usually always wearing a robe of some sort. Whether it be his long, plain black robe with the Ministry of Magic's logo embroidered onto it or his dark red silky robe, it is always a robe. Gregory also always wears a pair of plain black trousers and a pair of black shoes (regardless of his robe). Gregory's familiar possum, Lambert, can usually be seen either on Gregory's shoulder or running around near him. Gregory has a strong London accent and often talks with a grunt. He also stutters from time to time.

Gregory's wand slides snugly into the top of his hornbeam cane (which he uses as an aid to walk). To make the wand inconspicuous when inside the cane, it has a handle like head which has the appearance of a ball with some spiralling etchings sliding around it. The etchings align perfectly with similar etchings on the cane. When the wand is pulled from the cane, the etchings spiral down the wand until they reach the tip. He uses his right hand for his cane -- and for casting spells. It is worth noting that when placed inside, the wand is able to channel magic through the cane, turning his cane into a stave. This, however, is not Gregory's preferred method of casting magic though he will use it if the need were to arise.

The decorations on the cane and wand are engravings which spiral around the wand in an elegant looking pattern.

History: On the 3rd of March of 1815 Gregory Fletcher was born. His parents were Esmerelda and Robert Fletcher. Both pure bloods. Esmerelda was an enthusiastic and eccentric individual at best, always trying to think up new and ingenious charms to practice around the house and though confined to being a housewife, never faltered from trying to reinvent impossibility. His father, Robert, was working as an Auror for the Ministry of magicùhe had just been hired when Gregory was born.

Gregory spent most of his time with his mother in his younger years as she was a housewife and his father was always out on work. At the age of two, Gregoryùwith his mother and fatherùhad to move from his birthplace of Yorkshire to London. Because the Ministry was based in London, travel was exceptionally difficult for Robert. Especially since Robert found it difficult to travel via floo network. It was a stressful move to say the least but nonetheless, it was successful. The following few years of Gregory's life were rather uneventful; he stayed with his mother as she continued to be a housewife and his father leaving regularly for work.

After Gregory turned eleven, July of 1826, a letter arrived in the post. It was in a small crÞme coloured envelope addressed to Gregory with the red wax pressed with the Hogwarts emblem to seal it. Gregory was ecstatic; he had been offered a place in the school.

"Mother! Mother! Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!" Announced Gregory, scurrying toward his mother with hyperactivity.

"What about it Gregory dear? I've already told you, your letter will arive shortly." She said, unbeknownst to the fact that her son had received the letter.

    "Look! Look!" Gregory exclaimed, pushing the letter into her hands;

    HOGWARTS SCHOOL

    of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

    à

    Dear Mr. Fletcher,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

    à

Esmerelda flicked through the list of ingredients required for first years and she smiled. She wasn't shocked: - moreover, excited for her son and happy for his own excitement.

"Your father will bring you to get your stuff before the week is out." She said, before turning around and walking into the kitchen.

Three days later, Robert took Gregory to get his stuff for Hogwarts ù including an owl ù and the last stop was Olivander's wandsùthe most well known wand maker in Englandùto get his wand. The first, a fourteen inch oak wand with a unicorn tail core, only served to set a pile of paper on fire. The second, a nine inch cedar wood wand with a runespoor fang core, didn't work at all. The third wand, however, seemed to pick Gregory; a ten and a quarter inch hornbeam wand with an ashwinder core.

Come September, Gregory was sorted into the Hufflepuff house, much like his father. Since starting Hogwarts, that very year; on Christmas, his father gave him a present. It wasn't in a box or in any wrapping. Gregory saw it laying on the table; a picture. It was a hand drawn picture of an animal. Gregory didn't know what to make of it. His father drew an animal for Christmas. Gregory smiled and held the picture up to the light to get a better look,

"Thank you father." He said with a smile. As he finished his sentence, the paper started shaking.

"This is your present son." Robert said, placing his arm around Esmerelda's shoulder.

Gregory, slightly stirred by the sudden unprovoked movement of the paper, dropped it. As soon as it touched the floor, it seemed to burn awayùleaving a small possum laying on the ground. Within seconds, the possum had awoken and scurried up Gregory's body, resting on his neck. Gregory named his new pet Lambert.

There was a problem however; Gregory didn't like his brown coloured owl. It always bit him. He wanted to take Lambert into school. Hogwarts didn't allow it and never would. After much protest, Gregory agreed to leave Lambert at home whilst he attended school.

Gregory grew with his love for magicùand love for Quidditchùas he grew in age. He always tried his best to see as many practice games as possible and when he was in his fifth year, he tried out for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. He was unsuccessful due to his coordination. In regards to his magical studies, he didn't exceed expectation by far. He was an under achiever with his charms work. However, there was one area he excelled in; magical defence. He was a natural duelist and often engaged in duels with other students, getting into trouble (but not causing any harm to said students) on more than one occasion. Gaining an O in Muggle Studies and Defence Against the Dark Arts and gaining Exceeds Expectations in Potions, Study of Ancient Runes and Herbology. Transfiguration and charms, however, he only received Acceptable. During his last year at Hogwarts, he took a course in Apparition and he passed, earning a license to apparate.

After graduating, on the year of 1833, Gregory started training as an auror. Robert told Gregory it was difficult and he believed there to be a was on the horizon and the wizarding world was in grave danger. The following years of were brutal and a strain on Gregory's strength and three years after completing his training, three months after losing his beloved possum to a dark wizard, Robert and Gregory were fighting side by side against a mutual enemy. Brightly coloured hues of greens, blues, yellows and reds soared through the air, followed by crashes and smashes and groans and grunts. Side by side, Robert and Gregory hurled spells from their wands.

"Father, I'm going to get that one." Gregory said, gesturing over to the murderer. The wizard at hand was focusing on one of Robert's friends. Gregory took out his wand and started running toward the wizard. Within moments, Gregory whirled through the airùas if apparating.

"Avada Kedavra!" The man exclaimed, aiming at Robert's friend, just as Gregory knocked into him. The wand flew through the air just as the spell was cast and a bolt of green light slammed into Robert's chest; the knock had caused the aim of the spell to go off track.

Robert's lifeless body collapsed to the floor and Gregory snapped his head to the sound of the thud,

"FATHER!" Gregory screamed as he ran to the dead corpse. A warm tear began to fall down Gregory's cheek, landing on the floor. Angry, Gregory turned around. "YOU KILLED MY FATHER!" He rose his wand, aiming at the grinning wizard who was getting back to his feet from the collision. The murderer looked at Gregory and grinned before apparating into the dark. Gregory dropped his wand and mourned for his father, crying against his chest.

After the battle was over, Gregory purchased another possum in memory of his father, naming it Lambert. Each possum Gregory has ever owned has been called Lambert -- an ode to Robert.

Since that day, Gregory swore against violence and having been enrolled as an Auror in the Ministry, Gregory tried his best, determined to capture every criminal. Every dark wizard. Every murdurer. Most nights Gregory dreams about the murder of his father and how it was his fault; if he hadn't tackles the man to try and take him down, the spell wouldn't have hit his father. Gregory, with eyes closed, still sees the dark eyes of the dark wizard staring at him; dark, bitter. It scares him.

Gregory's determination saw him through many battles and assignments. And he was forced to fight once againùeven though he didn't want to. He fought valiantly, in the hope of getting revenge for his fathers death. Gregory wasn't satisfied; his father was dead and he could do nothing to reverse it. His determination, heart and skill in investigation (attained from his experience) and dueling made him an above exceptional wizard for the Ministry, securing his place as an auror throughout his life.

At age 62, having cared for his mother due to illness, there was disorder on the streets of his home. Muggles were causing a stir; wizards were being kicked out of London. Not wanting conflict, Gregory took his mother and followed rumours of a safe haven near Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hogsmeade. The stress of having to move to Hogsmeade in 1877 and the murders of 1881 caused too much stress on Esmerelda and she passed away on March thirteenth of the very same year. Gregory was devestated but kept quiet; he had no family but didn't show how he felt

Personality: Gregory is a passive man at heart:- he is a pacifist; he does not enjoy violence and, by default, he does not agree with it. He believes no good will ever come from violence, only bad. Whether it is a minor conflict in a school yard or a civil war, Gregory believes that using violence will only accentuate problems. Although he is versed in dueling, due to being an auror, he doesn't agree with the methods used by, and enforced by, the Ministry. If Gregory was given the choice between talking through an issue or using violence to solve it, Gregory would opt for talking. This is primarily due to events that occurred when Gregory was in his twenties. Gregory and his father were fighting side by side and only Gregory emerged from the battle. Since that day, Gregory has always been against any acts of violence though he will happily sit through a legitimate and safe duelùas he has an eye for sport.

Gregory has always been interested in sport; Quidditch, dueling and has even looked into some Muggle sports. When he was younger, he took it upon himself to audition for the Hogwarts Quidditch try-outs with his house, Hufflepuff. He was unsuccessful but his love for the game continued. Gregory tries his best to attend as many Quidditch games as he can, usually making an endeavour into the school grounds to watch their Quidditch season. Legitimate dueling tournaments have always taken Gregory's fancy though he doesn't watch them as often as he does Quidditch but every so often Gregory does attend matches.

Having been with the Ministry for a long time, Gregory has learnt when to trust people and when not toùsimilarly, he has adapted to his situation within the Ministry and is a fairly honest person, resulting in him not only being a trustworthy individual but one that is most likely going to express his thoughts regardless of if they are hurtful or not. Although he doesn't take a liking to harming people, both physically and emotionally, he would do so if he was ordered to by the Ministry. Gregory doesn't feel that lying to someone to spare their emotion is a good thing. In fact, he believes quite the contrary; he believes that if he were to be honest to people, even if it hurt them, it would better the person. This results in a bluntness about him.

Because he doesn't enjoy harming people, especially emotionally, he has become fairly good with words. He chooses what he says carefully and words it in a certain way so as to lessen any negative effect what he says may have on the recipient. Due to this, Gregory has become fairly strong-minded and strong-willed. This, although is typically a good thing in Gregory's eyes, has resulted in his stubborn nature. He often thinks his opinion is the only valid one around and often uses his age as a reason for him being 'right'. To summarise, Gregory doesn't enjoy hurting peoples feelings but he feels it is his duty to be blunt and honest to people.

Having worked with the Ministry for as long as he has, Gregory has needed to meet deadlines and dedicate the majority of his time to his work which has naturally resulted in determination to anything Gregory is working on. Being determined to finish something has also ended up with Gregory being an exceptional self-motivated individual:- he needn't any external stimuli in order to be motivated to do something. His determination has been greatly improved since his fathers death; he dedicates more time into his work as an Auror to capture as many wrong doers as he can.

His age has had its toll on Gregory; he can sometimes get confused quite easily and, quite often, forgets about seemingly trivial things.

Sample Roleplay Post: "That hurt. You stupid thing."Gregory snarled whilst waving his finger angrily at a stationary, fur-covered book laying exanimate on his desk. "You shouldn't bite. It's not only mean but it hurts, too." He continued to lecture the book as if it were a small child:- a solitary, wrinkled finger waving angrily at the book. Then, with a disheartened sigh, Gregory's hands stretched slowly outward, toward the book with his palm facing toward the dark brown planked floor. "Don't you bite me." He told the book before curling his fingers around the soft feeling object. He picked it up and held it in front of his face. "I really do wonder why I ever bought you. All you want to do is bite me. You're just a bully." He exclaimed.

The words on the front of the book were just five. "The Monster Book of Monsters." Gregory shook his head from side to side and turned on the balls of his feet. He then took two steps toward a polished oak cupboard with two glass doors and clutched the book in one of his hands tightly. With his now free hand, he opened the cupboard and carefully placed the book inside. The book grunted maliciously.

Gregory then shut the clear doors and patted down his black Ministry robe. He looked to the white ivy analogue clock nailed to the wall and smiled. It read 4 o'clock."I think I might go and get some pumpkin juice." Gregory muttered to himself. "I love pumpkin juice." Gregory grinned widely and picked up his wooden cane. Then, with a limp, he strode across the room to the door. The door swung open as he approached.

When he left the room, Gregory was greeted by his familiar, Lambert. Gregory looked down to see his possum on its hind legs. "Lambert! There you are. You know what just happened to me?" He said with a slight croak in his voice, "That book I got. It bit me again." Gregory shook his head, "I'm telling you. If it keeps doing that, I'm going to have to... erm... do something. Something terrible." He said thoughtfully. His gaze turned to the seemingly never-ending height within the Ministry building. Gregory shook his head once more and bent his knees. He then knelt down slowly and made a clicking sound with this tongue. Lambert went onto all fours and ran to climb and, eventually, rest on Gregory's shoulder. Gregory slowly raised his body into a fully-upright position once more. "Let's go get some pumpkin juice."
