Elladora, followed by a troupe of motley looking house elves, strutted to Ursula's room. She wore only a black dress with very tight sleeves, and a thin, dark shawl around her shoulders. It was a warm day, so she decided to pin her hair up in a very messy bun--Elladora was never any good at doing things with buns--and deemed it decent.
As she strutted, she pondered. It had been far to long that Ursula had imprisoned herself in her room. Elladora thought it actually shameful; self-exile was always boring. Elladora, if she was in the situation, would've strove to make a better name by forgetting the vices and gone on her merry way. Then again, Elladora was always a tad bit more outspoken and delusional, in her own way.
She raked her pale knuckles on the door, and opened it. The house elves knew their duties and strolled in as Elladora waited at the door. The group of elves each carried a platter: one with tarts, another with tea, and a smaller plate with a grapefruit.
"Out!" She hissed as they laid the platters across the large bed.
"Lula', dear," Elladora drawled as she sat cross legged on the bed, flicking her wand and slamming the door, not caring if she hit the elves as it swung, "you really need to cheer up." She cocked her head and scanned the bed.
"Eat," Ella's voice was harsh. She herself was not in the mood for eating, though a cigarette sounded enjoyable.
"Dinner has been so dull, without you. Although, I never cared for social gatherings anyways," she shrugged, pursing her lips.

When she had so much as the slightest cause to, Ursula could sulk like a pro. Currently, she had two reasons to have confined herself to her rooms like a miserable hermit; firstly, Thom had once again severed all communication with her and she currently didn't feel very hopeful that there would be a second attempt to convene with her and secondly, Phineas had sprang on her an unforgivable cruelty. It had happened twelve days earlier and she felt no better about it now than she had then. She felt mortified and her pride was perhaps even more wounded than the physical evidence. She had never imagined that he would ever submit her to such a thing! She was no nymphomaniac, was it so very wrong to crave the physical closeness of another? The fact remained, she should never have denied him what was his by right of marriage, had she have done as she ought she would have never roused his suspicion and thus never have been treated for her supposed condition.
Ursula never wanted to leave her room again, she saw no point in emerging; she had been abandoned by Thom and mutilated by Phineas and nothing could lure her out. Thankfully, today she was not being asked to come out of her room though she wasn't really in the mood for company either, not that that was about to stop Elladora.
She made no acknowledgement of the elves or Elladora as they barged into her room until Elladora sat on her bed, causing Ursula to finally glance in her direction. "I shan't ever be cheerful again," she murmured listlessly. As for eating, she didn't feel much like it though she could tell that she was hungry. "I don't feel much like eating, Ella." It seemed to take a great deal of effort to talk which it did for her at present, her spirits were so low it was threatening to smother her.

Elladora blinked twice, raising her brows high and then pinching them, offended. Her temper was a thing that could not be leashed nor predicted--like a dog left in the sun too long.
" You will eat," Elladora's voice raised, and then plummeted down to a whisper, "honestly Ursula. You're a Black, you mise-well act like such." She thrust a tart at the younger Black and pursed her lips. The older black was much more unpredictable in her emotional movements; one moment she would be nice, while the next, if prodded, would be completely unstable and wrathful. The house elves were quite versed with Elladora's frequent rampages.
" I shan't ever be cheerful again," Elladora mocked her in a childish voice and laughed, "bugger on that, 'Lula." She frowned, reaching out to Ursula and wrapping a finger in her hair, looking upon it with a detail-hungry eye. Ursula had such beautiful hair, though Ella would never admit to it.
"You'll be happy, dear, don't worry. Perhaps a walk will have you on the right track. I would be more than happy to give you an elf to curse. It's actually quite fun," she shrugged, "I myself enjoy it thoroughly." She reminisced the times she tortured the elves just out of spite. Ella had plenty of spite to distribute.

Ursula wished Elladora had someone else to throw tarts at, all she currently wanted to do was to bury her face beneath her pillow and continue on as she had done so for weeks now in her self-pity. However, she could not and she hadn't the will to argue with anyone, let alone Ella. Reluctantly, she sat herself up in bed and accepted the tart, taking a small nibble at it.
"I shan't, Ella," she reaffirmed morosely over her tart. "No amount of walking or cursing will make it any better." Ursula didn't know if Ella even knew what Phineas had done but she didn't care much to talk about it. "Do you ever wish you had married?" she suddenly asked, taking another bite of the tart as she considered Ella. "Your marriage prospects must have been most enviable, you could probably have had your pick of wealthy, handsome bachelors..." Turning the conversation away from herself and onto Elladora was the perfect distraction.

Elladora did not show any joy at the acceptance of the tart, but to herself, thought ' finally.' Ursula was quite difficult to both understand and in general just difficult at times. Ella hadn't really cared about Phineas and his strange 'treating' of Ursula as of late.
"Walking may not heal you, but cursing always brings joy to the caster's heart, darling," Elladora sang to herself venomously. Ella herself thought cursing and maiming was the best past-time there was.
As the conversation took a sudden swing for the worst, Ella was reminded of her reasons for not marrying. All the men she was introduced to found her absolutely repulsive, even if she was of pure blood and wealth. Ella, though, buried the reasons in her head with thoughts like ' they are idiots, they don't know what they're talking about' and simply thoughts that told her that she was just fine.
"Why didn't I marry?" After a quick thought, she pinched her brows as if offended, "why didn't I marry," she repeated.
"Why would I wish to be leashed by a man? I found all of my suitors both boring and repulsive. Men who were more guided by their pelvises than their emotions. Yes, politically the marriage would have been a great asset--who wouldn't want a Black in their bloodline--but I myself was not yearning for company." Elladora had raised her chin high as she said what she had to say. She frowned, cocking her head some.
"I am no dewy eyed girl, Ursula, and I never was. I didn't look for love, nor do I crave it in any means." She spoke coldly. The subject was obviously quite angering to her.

"I haven't the energy to curse even a flea," she drawled, tiring of the nibbled tart and setting it down on her lap. Ursula knew very well that Ella could be touchy at times on certain subjects but she wasn't so tactful of late, she hadn't had a proper dose of socialization in months and while usually she would loathe that, currently she didn't care a bit.
Her reasons for not marrying, Ursula could now in retrospect, see the benefits in. While marrying gave more freedom (unless one abused it such as she had) it also made a woman forever the property of the man they married and Ursula had been reminded of this only recently in one of the cruelest ways possible.
She could very much tell that Ella was not best pleased by the subject but was strangely unaffected by the show of displeasure and remaining in her more or less apathetic state. "I did not marry in the expectation of love..." she mused aimlessly, wondering at how different her opinions now were on the existence of love and it's necessity; that wasn't to say she thought marriage needed love, simply that she craved something closer to it in her own. "It would be nice, however, if your brother did not loathe my very existence. He doesn't even have to say it, I can see it in his eyes when he looks at me." It wasn't as though she hadn't provoked his disdain but she didn't care to think of it like that.

Elladora snorted, trying to imagine 'Lula even cursing an elf with the same lack of hesitation or lack of mercy that Ella was so proud of. Sadly, Ella did not even think Ursula capable of even killing a man--though, Phineas could easily be killed if Ursula's wrath was roused.
"In this day and age, women do not marry for love, Ursula. Women of our stature do not marry for love, we marry for our family, for our pride." Ella shrugged, "I suppose my pride is not quite evident, is it? I would rather keep my surname than bear little wretches from my womb." Ella placed a pale hand on her small stomach and frowned,
"I personally can't see anything coming out of my womb. Nor do I see anything going in me." Ella was pretty blunt, not caring if her crudeness would offend Ursula or not. If faced with pregnancy, Ella knew she would terminate the pregnancy herself, no matter the pain or the method she used. She would rather be seen as a warrior than a simple child-producing machine that men so often see women as.
"My brother," Ella began, "does not loathe you, Ursula. If he acted anything like me, he'd of killed you by now, just for your actions that you've done. Fortunately, he possess much more mercy than I." Ella laughed, though it was not to release the tension. Whether Ursula could decipher or not, Ella actually would, if in Phineas' place, have killed Ursula for her actions. And, if she was Phineas, she would have blamed the murder on Elladora, and have her sent to jail.
"Perhaps you should," she bit back on her words, "well I was going to say offer him another child."

Ursula could certainly and whole-heartedly agree with Elladora on the childbearing front though she was a little abashed by the crude reference to sex and modestly afforded some color to her cheeks for a few moments. Some might think it hypocritical of her to act so when she had committed adultery on more than one occasion but it wasn't something one heard spoken of and certainly not so bluntly.
It was funny, she thought, that Phineas hadn't killed her when he found out about her disloyalty. She had been so uptight about him finding out and she had been convinced he would quietly do away with her and yet he hadn't - his reasoning for not killing her? She wasn't entirely sure. She was sure now, though, that if he ever found out about the Minister or Thom, that she would be dead as a door-nail.
"Another child?!" she repeated in surprise. No, no she had told Phineas already that she had no desire for another child and she had meant it. "I have given him two sons already! I do not enjoy bearing children in the slightest and he is as good as a stranger to Sirius! If there were any more children he would neglect to recall their names correctly. Were he a doting father, I might be more obliging." It was horrible how enlightened she felt to his flaws since her affections had found Thom, but even now when Thom was supposed to be in her past, she couldn't unsee his flaws. "What's the point any more anyway? What use have I left? My marriage resembles a battlefield strewn with corpses! I want no more children," she paused as she felt the familiar welling up of tears, "my husband would have unspeakable things done to me simply because I refused him access to my bed, I feel so estranged from society and-" she broke off before she could mention Thom and how she longed for him and loved him still. "Would that I could trade places with you, Ella," she murmured as a couple tears leaked out of her eyes.

Elladora chuckled to herself. What woman would enjoy pushing little buggers out of their body? She knew that Ursula detested the thought of another child, but, perhaps it was what was needed for her to possibly regain her brother's love.
"Ursula, I'm only suggesting that--if perhaps--you do bear another child, a child that is of your husband's seed, you will regain my brother's love and comfort?"
Elladora knew quite well that her brother was a fairly strict man. In her mind, she debated on whether or not she would help Ursula regain her brother's trust and loyalty.
"Trade places with me?" She questioned, her brows pinched, "with me?"
Ella let out a shriek of a laugh, and pinched her nose, in both frustration and humor.
"What woman wouldn't want to be in my place? A life of luxury, no burden of child or husband, and the most noble, pure name of Black? But, perhaps, 'Lula, you are better off where you are rooted."
Elladora extended a hand and rested a bony, pale hand on Ursula's shoulder.
"Time will come, 'Lula, and you and my brother will have to rekindle your love, if that's what you desire. Become the better wife."

Ursula wished for the optimism she used to have for her marriage but it had vanished along with her fidelity. Phineas cared nothing for her, she knew this and it dissatisfied her immensely. Why could she not entice him with her charms? Why did he seem determined to despise her? "Your brother cares nothing for either of the children he currently has, I fail to see how another might please him." She sighed heavily. She didn't want his affections anyway, he had wronged her hideously and she wasn't inclined to forgive him unless he made the effort to win her esteem back.
"What use is being a better wife if he is never home to appreciate it? Why is it I must exist only to be his broodmare? I cannot forgive him for this, Ella, I cannot!" She longed with all her being that Thom had not broken with her, in him she might have found herself able to see some sort of light at the end of the tunnel but she couldn't, everything felt so hopeless! "If there was only a way to make Phineas forget my indiscretions, or better still, to win his affections somehow."
