The lost you are feeling is painful but please let it not be your end. Rosalind wouldn’t be happy to see that you have imprisoned yourself in Wales. It isn’t healthy for your mind and body. Please visit Mother or at least tell her you are fine. She has been worried sick- you can tell if you have read her letters.

I still hate you for sending me to finishing school but it doesn’t mean I don’t care about you. Do visit me in school if you have time.

There's no need for you to pretend like you care simply for mother's sake. If she wishes to see me, tell her to send me another letter. I am perfectly within my rights to stay at home while I mourn the loss of my wife and daughter, if you don't remember. It is not an insult to any of you if I refuse visitors, and it is not intended to be. I simply do not wish for any of you to see me in my dreary, weakened state.
