"How am I suppose to know if I love her in place like this" He gestured again at everything around him. " I'm sure you can remember how it is at Hogwarts, kept away at arms length but professors, classmates and society." He stated shacking his head. He should not have brought the subject up, he could hear now what was before frustration or annoyance now turning into contempt.

He was right in many ways though Felix had to admit. Felix was not afraid of a simple life and was sure he would be able to to cook for him self... eventually. But how could he ask any one let alone her to give that all up ? How could he be so naive as to think that she would want to give anything up for him, or so selfish as to let her do so.

Felix sighed and straightened out the edges of his jacket and then straightening his sleeves and making sure cuff links were in straight he look to his older brother. Orpheus and he rarely quarreled, but that was mostly because they never saw each other, but he wasn't about to let this conversation start a feud.

"I apologies for bringing it up. I appreciate your willingness to accompany me to this ball but I will bother you no more with such... silly things as feelings. Enjoy, have fun. I'll see you at the end of the night" He said turning from Orpheus and walking deeper into the crowd of people doing his best not to snatch the nearest glass of wine off a passing tray, an act he was sure would only make his brother think he was even more irrational and short sighed than before.

" Will I ever stop seeming like a fool" Felix quietly asked himself as he went.

Orpheus stood silently as Felix went off. Sometimes you just needed to let your emotions out.

Or failing that, repress and use drink to bury them.

He took another flute of champagne, downing it rather rapidly. He wasn’t equiped to deal with this.
