    Juniper Weasley vs. Nikolai Sleptov
    #1
It might be a pity to see Hogwarts' Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher's skills wasted in a duel against a female demonstration, but perhaps the dummy would allow him more creativity. And even within the boundaries of ornamental magic, Morty supposed plenty of women managed interesting things.

Well, they would see! After going through the rules, Morty offered brightly, "Ladies first! Mrs. Weasley, when you're ready."

He opponent, Juni was aware, was an ex-auror. From Russia, but he had been an auror - or whatever they called them in Russia - all the same. She gave a slight, respectful curtsy to her opponent and then attempted to conjure a full length stand mirror with an ornate juniper-carved frame.

Sorry for the delay! Please do not tag me.
Unlike most, the notion of losing to a woman didn’t frighten Nik—frankly, he was surprised he didn’t do so more often. A former auror he might have been, but male dueling tested reflex, not technique. In mixed-sex competitions, the professor thought women certainly had the upper hand in terms of potential showmanship.

He bowed politely to Mrs. Weasley before she cast her display, before moving to (silently) decapitate his dummy.

Conjuration was always a feat in itself, but Morty wasn't sure that the mirror had been meant to offer so scratched and distorted a reflection. The decapitation, on the other hand, was cleanly done.

"The first round to Mr. Sleptov, who may also begin the next."

    Nikolai cast his patronus.

Hmm, her conjuration had not gone quite as planned. Ah, well. Juniper cast a spell to transfigure the glass into a summer scene, like a painting or a photograph.

Against someone else, Mrs. Weasley's ornamental magic might have been a strong contender. However, it was difficult to fault the patronus.

"Mr. Sleptov takes the second round, and thus the duel! Commiserations, Mrs. Weasley." Morty declared.
