    My brother is the worst

    August 28th 1884,
    Dear Miss Carrow,

I think the worst has happened now.

I will not return to Hogwarts once this quarantine is lifted. My brother has sent me on finishing school.

True, it is only the one Mrs. Pendergast has opened, but I had not thought it would happen until I had at least gotten my OWLs.

But, my brother is my guardian after my father died a year ago, and I doubt even me and my sister combined can get him to change his mind.

Keep me updated on anything important happening.

    Dear Miss Beaumont,

I sense unhappiness in your letter- why is that? Your opening statement makes it sound like you are being sent to a workhouse, rather than what will undoubtedly be one of the best schools a young lady of our standing could be sent to.

You will hardly need OWLs for anything - girls like us get their OWLs and NEWts in a purely symbolic way. Besides, I am pretty sure that you will still be taught some basics in magic while there, so you hardly forget how to use your wand.

Why is Mr. Beaumont sending you there in the first place, if I may ask? This seems incredibly sudden, so if he was driven to take that decision then instead of complaining perhaps you should look deeper into it and learn from it.

    August 29 1884,
    Dear Miss Carrow,

I am unhappy - I apologize if I had you worry for my brother doing something even worse than he did. And I guess it is hardly the worst he could come up with.

However, I had been looking forward to our next year at Hogwarts - I had already gotten all the books I needed.

Of course, it is a good excuse to come out and get some new dresses - I have still to buy some proper ball-gowns after I have outgrown my olds from before my father died.

But - just knowing that I will not share down with you and be able to talk with you properly makes it seem so unfair.

    Dear Miss Beaumont,

You could always give those books to charity. I am sure that some unfortunate lower class student could use them and I suppose we should always help other purebloods in need.

I am also sure that there will not be a thing you could tell me in person that you couldn’t say it in letter. You are going to Irvingly, not the South Pole.

    August 30 1884,
    Dear Miss Carrow,

If I give them to charity, then I could risk some - merlin forbid it - muggleborn took up my books.

And it is not the distance that the owl has to fly in order to carry a letter between us - it is the knowledge then when I am finished with a day, then we cannot sit calmly and talk like we usually do - so far I have no idea who else will go there (of course I did not knew that we were to be sorted to the same house either when we started), and while Mrs. Pendergast will hardly let anyone in on the school, then I still want to know more precisely.

I wish this quarantine was soon over - Twilfit and Tattings hardly has the same and as broad a collection as some of the shops in London - especially after the fire.
