Letitia Swift nee Thornthwaite, 1843, aunt | A muggleborn, Aunt Letitia is Newt's mother's twin. She is currently the Hogwarts etiquette instructor and has quite the reputation for bringing rebellious girls to heel.

Cassandra Swift, 1864, cousin | Cassie is just a few months younger than Newt, but was sorted into Gryffindor. She is currently awaiting her wedding in January.

Ismene Swift, 1867, cousin | Ismene is a perfect example of what a lady should be; unfortunately, she is also betrothed. She is currently a fifth year Hufflepuff.

Myles Swift, 1869, cousin | Myles is a third year Gryffindor.

Appearance: While Newton isn't as small and scrawny as his brother, he's hardly a large and imposing figure. Newt stands at 5 feet 8 inches and is slightly underweight at 138 pounds. He has a mop of curly brown hair with slight auburn tones to it and brown eyes. His face is on the thin, pointed side -- something which has generally make him look pinched and somewhat prone to illness despite the fact that he is almost never sick. He tends to wear very traditional, somber clothes because he is constantly trying to make a good impression. Newt is right handed.

History:

1864 | Lucretia presented Clifford with their first child, a boy that they named Newton Montgomery Figg.

1866 | A second boy joined the Figg household and was named Bluford Gaylord. Two years old Newtie was fascinated with the small squirming bundle until Blu's nurses took to baby away because Newt kept poking him to see what would happen.

1867 | Newt is found in the library looking at books that he had somehow gotten down from shelves far out of his reach. It takes weeks for anyone to figure out that he is levitating the books down magically.

1872 | Bluford also shows signs of magic, and much more dramatically than Newton.

1875 | Newton receives his Hogwarts letter and begins his magical education. He is sorted into Ravenclaw and quickly meets and befriends Frederick Prewett, Maxmillian de Winter, and [TAG-ALONG]. He is the nerd of the group and their occasional conscious, but gets pulled into shenanigans that he never would have otherwise participated in because of his friendship.

1877 | Blu joins his brother at Hogwarts and in Ravenclaw.

1880 | Newt takes his O.W.L.s and gets mostly Os and Es. He bemoans his solitary A as if it were a T.

1881 | Ismene Swift catches Newt's eye. He quickly develops a crush on his cousin and convinces himself of his tr
ue and undying love. He begins writing poetry for her, but does not share any of it with anyone.

1882 | Much to Newt's dismay, Ismene is betrothed. Max spends most of the spring thinking it is absolutely hilarious that Newt is preparing for his N.E.W.T.s. When it comes time to actually take the exams Newton receives impressive scores once more. After graduation he goes into the Ministry as an Intern in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Secretly he is hoping for the opportunity to do something impressive to convince his uncle to let him marry Ismene.

Personality: Newt is highly intelligent and is one of those sorts that seems to do everything well. He is also a hopeless romantic, although not bold enough to actually do anything about his crushes. (He does tend to write poetry.) He is very moral, trying to keep his friends on the straight and narrow as much as possible ... although he fails at that more often than not. He would love to be someone's white knight and get to rush in to the rescue.

Sample Roleplay Post:

The Headmaster's wife was overseeing his duel. Headmaster Black's wife was overseeing his duel. Newt was not so far removed from his Hogwart's career that the fact that Mrs. Ursula Black was overseeing his duel was anything short of terrifying. He'd never met the woman before, but he was sure that she had to be just as intimidating as her husband.

Nervously, Newt bowed to Miss Van Helsing (who was not exactly the picture of womanly grace and so somewhat frightening as well) and turned to the dummy. Attack. He had to attack. Um, it was a dummy, made of cloth and stuffing and wood and stuff. FIRE. Silently, Newt attempted to make the dummy burst into flames.
