Edmund Goyle v. His Majesty Merlin Huxley
    #1
Only Huxley was taking her course from the two lads, so Valkyria was slightly more in favour to him. Still, she never really found him to be the fighter type and maybe Goyle was good at Sleptov’s class.

She’d wait and see, she supposed.

“Now that you both know the rules, Mr. Goyle may do us the honour of starting!”

    • Though he still felt rather out of sorts from the trials of the night before, Edmund thought that Professor Sleptov’s strange experiment (for what else could one call hurtling students out into the wilds?) was sure to have prepared him for today’s duel. A tad ironically, the Slytherin bowed to Huxley—for all he was a bit apathetic for the seventh year’s tastes, Ned did like the other wizard—before readying himself to cast. Mentally, he toyed briefly with the idea of a silent spell, but knew that it would fail abysmally.

Instead, Edmund elected to send a bat-bogey hex at his classmate.

Merl was hoping that their adventure of the previous evening would have the NEWT DADA students off their game. Edmund Goyle was not nearly the most frustrating of their yearmates - he was actually fairly likable - and Merl gave a quick bow.

    "Protego!"

The Hufflepuff would probably need to practice harder on his shield charms, as Mr. Goyle’s hex successfully broke through and hit Huxley. After she made sure that the Hufflepuff was alright, she declared: “Round goes to Mr. Goyle! Mr. Huxley, attack when ready.”

That had been embarassing. Merl brushed himself off and cast a spell that would, ideally, turn Goyle into a hedgehog.

    • Happy with his win and not wanting to do anything too flashy, Edmund cast a shield charm.

Both of the spells were performed equally wrong. Goyle’s shield resisted for a bit but in the end Huxley’s broke through. But Goyle was not entirely turned into a hedgehog. Both spells seemed so terrible, that she couldn’t say which one of them did better.

Well, Huxley took Charms, so. “Round goes to Mr. Huxley.” Valkyria announced with an unimpressed voice. “Mr. Goyle, start the tie-breaking round.”

    • Edmund was hardly overjoyed by the outcome—and mildly miffed that Huxley had decided to turn him into a hedgehog. Deciding to fight fire with fire, the Slytherin issued a counter-jinx that would ideally, turn the badger’s ears into bat wings. If not, Ned hoped it would at least send Huxley's spell off course.

That had not gone particularly well - Merl was slightly displeased, as the spell failing did not bode well for his Transfiguration NEWT exam - but at least he had taken the round.

"Finite!" he cast with a flick of his wand. If the spell worked, Goyle's jinx would be ended before it could reach Merlin.

Well, the final round was definitely interesting! Huxley couldn’t stop the Slytherin’s spell on time, so his ears turned into bat wings and one of them poked him in the eye. It was not something serious, but it did seem rather painful. “Mr. Goyle wins the duel!” Valkyria announced with a rather amused smile. “Five points to Slytherin as well!”

    Goyle: 12 | Huxley: 8
    +6 for injury
