    Angus MacFusty v. Arthur Pettigrew
    #1
    • They were getting nearer and nearer to the finals, so William was looking forward to seeing what both competitors he had to judge this round would do. He swiftly reiterated the rules they probably both already well used to them. When they were ready he nodded and declared, "Mr. MacFusty to begin the duel with Mr. Pettigrew defending, please!"

Gus was pleased to have progressed as far as he had in the duels, maybe he even stood a chance at winning! To get to that point, however, he had to beat Mr. Pettigrew here. Whatever the eventual outcome, he would have fun.

For his first spell, he gave a quick wave of his wand and attempted to cast a toe-nail growing hex on his opponent.

Art liked winning, and was hoping that he could continue to do so in this round of the duels. "Finite!" he cast, hoping to stop the hex before it could reach him.

    • Pettigrew's counter evidently did not stop the hex, for the next moment saw his toenails apparently trying to protrude out the end of his shoes. It was an unusual choice of attack - and the effects sure to be a little uncomfortable - so Will was sure it would be very much a relief for everyone when the spell's effects had been reversed. Hastily, he said, "The first round to Mr. MacFusty! When Mr. Pettigrew's toenails are - well, normal - once more he may begin the second round."

Ow. Ow. With some muttered swears and fervent spells, Arthur managed to reverse the jinx.

Now it was time to get to business; he sent a pumpkin-head jinx at MacFusty.

It was always a satisfying feeling to win a round in a duel but winning the overall duel would be even better. He had the advantage over Pettigrew but the next round might not be in his favor. Not sure what to do next and panicking as he saw Pettigrew's spell nearing him, he uttered the first incantation that sprang to mind which happened to be the finger-severing jinx.

    • Both spells were offensive, and narrowly missed each other in the air. And both spells hit, leaving one of the contestants with a pumpkin for a head and the other nursing a missing finger. William decided not to let the situation linger too long and so reversed both spells before announcing the result. While the second spell was the more violent, it had also been the better cast, and so Will announced, "The point again goes to Mr. MacFusty, who wins the duel! Mr. Pettigrew, thank you for your participation."
