Appearance: Riff is much like his brother when it comes to height though takes it just a smidge higher and stands at an even six feet. He’s not overly muscular but is far from what one would considered slender. His hair is brown in hue and has a bit of a wave to it though it isn’t entirely noticeable unless he forgets to keep it trimmed up. He can often be found sporting a bit of scruff but never lets it get quite to the stage of being considered a beard. His eyes are a dark brown and could easily be viewed as “kind eyes.” Her prefers to wear basic suits and the like though tries to to wear anything overly fancy even though he could afford to do so. Being a chaser has taught him to be rather ambidextrous in most ways of life though he does favor his right hand when it comes to writing and wand work.
History:

1856: Nathaniel Raphael is born in the wee hours of a chilly February morning. He proves to be a bit of a handful from the get go.
1861: He shows his first signs of magic by bouncing off of the ground after trying to follow his older brother up a tree and not quite having the concept of climbing down.
1863: Elsa goes into labor and it proves to be quite different from her previous two. Riff remembers following in his brother’s footsteps as he followed in their father’s. Pacing back and forth. While he understood something was wrong, he didn’t quite understand just how wrong things were at first. Aurelia was finally born though he could sense the fear and tension in his father. He cried himself to sleep when he realized his mother was gone from their lives.
1865: James leaves for Hogwarts and Riff, quite frankly, isn’t exactly sure what to do with himself. Aurelia is much too small to play with and there’s only so much a young boy can do to watch over a toddler. He spends his lonely days while his brother is away at school riding his broomstick as often as possible.
1867: Finally he gets to go to Hogwarts with James. However, he’s sorted into a different house and he’s not a fan in the slightest. The brothers somehow manage to make it work though and remain just as close, if not closer, than before.
1868: Riff tries out for the house Quidditch team but competition is stiff and he doesn’t make it. He settles for the club team for now.
1869: A nasty head cold prevents him from making it to house Quidditch try outs. He adds Arithmancy and Ancient Studies to his schedule.
1870: Another year unable to make the team. Though he stood a good chance, a stray bludger hits him resulting in a fall and a dislocated shoulder.
1871: Riff tries out one more year for the team but his previous shoulder injury makes it hard. Still not fully one hundred percent, he doesn’t manage to meet the standards of his competition.
1872: Riff sits his OWLs and does decently. When he returns for his sixth year, he doesn’t even both trying out for the team again, satisfied with playing when he can with the club and being able to put more of a focus on his grades so as to better them for his NEWTs. He ends up dropping Astronomy, Charms, and Herbology.

1874: Riff finishes up his time at Hogwarts. With no more focus on trying and failing at making the House Quidditch teams, he does rather well on his NEWTs. But even so, he decides to try out for the Appleby Arrows. He makes the team as a second string Chaser.

1875: Riff is a bit unsettled upon the realization that Aurelia will be starting her time at Hogwarts and neither himself of James would be there to watch over her. He knows there’s nothing that can be done for it but he makes a point to watch over her anytime she is home from school. He perhaps even annoys her with his incessant questions about the going ons of Hogwarts but it doesn’t stop him from doing so every time she’s home for a holiday.
1877: With one of the first string chasers retiring, Riff receives a promotion to first string. He also makes the move into Black’s though visits home often. Nothing ever seems to match up to a home cooked meal and he like to remain apprised of anything his sister may be up to..
1884: Aurelia is injured in a freak accident with a manticore and Riff can’t help but be a bit angry over the whole ordeal. Not at his sister or anyone involved directly but simply at the fact he wasn’t able to be there to help or protect. He’s grateful for Mr. Webster for being their to help and so easily is persuaded to vote for him in the elections upon Aurelia’s request. Then fire and plague and death. Riff ends up sick from the plague as does Aurelia though she doesn’t seem to end up quite as sick as Riff ends up. He’s able to pull through well enough but not without causing some fear among his family that he may turn for the worse. It’s a bit terrifying really, to think of one’s passing. He grows even closer to his family, if it was even possible to do so.
1885: Garrett Wallingford speaks to all the Herondale men, requesting permission to court Aurelia. All three men agree though only under the condition that Aurelia herself is agreeable to the idea. Riff is fairly certain she will be as he’d noticed in the previous year how starry eyed she got over him but he’s still hesitant of the idea of his little sister basically growing up. He just hopes that the man doesn’t ruin things somehow and hurt his sister because, well, then he’d be forced to hurt the man in return.
1886: Aurelia marries and Riff isn’t quite sure how he feels about it. He’s happy, of course, but the protective big brother in him wonders if anyone could ever truly be good enough for his little sister. He does, however, hope that she won’t take it upon herself to do any matchmaking unless it is for James. While he’s aware he’s of an age to marry, he isn’t entirely sure if he’s actually ready to do so.
