The prospect of going to the museum was quite exciting, initially. That was, until they finished with the first exhibition. By that point, Meta just wanted their trip to the museum to be over with so they could go to Fudge & Son’s like promised.

When they reached an exhibition on ancient Greece, they were told they could look around on their own provided that they didn’t leave the exhibition’s room and didn’t touch anything. An easy enough task.

Meta wandered towards some of the old vases. She had been looking at a particular vase depicting a hunting scene when she heard something breaking beside her. Turning her head, she saw that one of the other people had made one of the vases fall.

With a tattle-tale-ish smile on her face, Meta said: “I saw what you did!”

Soledad and her stand-in nanny, the household maid, had gone to the Museum to peruse the antiquary. Soledad liked museums and ancient artifacts. It was so intriguing to her to see what people had discovered whilst exploring and excavating. It made her heart soar. Oh, how she wanted to be like these famous explorers, discovering ancient worlds, uncovering lost treasures—the adventures to be had! Soledad couldn’t help but sigh with dreamy admiration.

They were in the Greek exhibit when disaster struck. It hadn’t been her fault—really. Soledad had simply began to wander at her own pace. She had actually seen something quite fascinating ahead and was about to dart off to study it when the maid grabbed her arm. The sudden jolt of the stop had caused Soledad to swing around with a yelp and bump into the stand that held one of the reliquaries that littered the museum.

“Oh, now look at what you’ve done,” the maid groaned quietly after the vase laid shattered on the ground.

Soledad was about to protest when a rather sing-songy voice proclaimed that she had seen what happened. Soledad turned and saw a girl, smartly dress, standing not far behind them. The maid’s look when to utter and horrified distress.

“See what you’ve done!” the maid exclaimed.

“But I didn’t do it!” Soledad said with a huff. “You saw, didn’t you? I didn’t do it, did I?” she said, looking to the other girl.

“I saw what you did,” Meta repeated with raised eyebrows. She crossed her hands in front of her chest and smiled haughtily. “That vase broke because of you! You’ll be in so much troooouble!”

Was she going to cry? Meta wouldn’t be surprised if she did. Silly people cried all the time and she had been silly enough to knock down the vase! She’d surely start crying and it would be embarrassing for her and amusing for Meta.

Soledad set her jaw as she looked at the other girl. She was not helpful at all. Why was she being so disagreeable and so downright dishonest? It wasn’t Soledad’s fault that she hit the stand and broke the vase. If her maid hadn’t pulled her so hard and so suddenly, the vase would still be unbroken on the stand.

“Obviously, you don’t know what you saw since you’re blaming me for it,” Soledad retorted, crossing her arms.

Soledad typically liked everyone she met, but she decided that she didn’t like this girl in the least.

Note: The maid is too busy fretting over the broken vase to attend to Soledad's conversation with Meta.

How silly this girl was! Meta was excellent at blaming others for the things she had done and lying about things, but still. She would never be so childish! Of course, there was also the possibility that this girl truly believed that she was innocent. Which made her attempts of excusing herself all the more pathetic.

“I saw you bump into the stand and the vase break and fall,” Meta commented with a hint of sarcasm in her voice. “It doesn’t take an alchemist to figure out whose fault it is that the vase broke!”

Soledad could hardly believe this girl, whoever she was. She obviously wasn’t an observant girl or she would have clearly seen that the maid had pulled too hard on Soledad’s arm, which caused Soledad to ricochet backwards like she did, resulting in the Fiasco of the Broken Vase. Soledad decided that this girl was not worth knowing nor was she worth arguing with anymore. She was too much like the maid—lacking complete thoughts.

Soledad simply huffed at the girl and crossed her arms, taking on an aloof, better-than-thou manner. “Fine,” she said at last. “If you’re going to be difficult too, I broke the vase. Are you happy now?” Soledad asked sharply looking between her maid and the other girl.

Her maid seemed content with her response, but was still fretting over the broken object. Soledad wondered why the woman simply didn’t pull out her wand and repair the blasted thing.

“Why don’t you just fix it yourself, Flora?” Soledad asked. “You have a wand after all. And isn’t there a repairing spell or something?”

Soledad noticed that the other girl was still standing there.

“As you can see, we have the situation well at hand now.”

Meta decided that she had lost her interest with the shorter girl and her governess. She didn’t like the gal of the girl, who would probably murder someone in front of her eyes and claim that she was innocent! Bah.

Not even bothering to respond to the girl and with an urge to roll her eyes, Meta turned around and went to look at some statues.
