    Apologies
    #1
    Dear Mrs Abbott,

It is not a habit of mine to send correspondences to women that I have met so briefly so you shall have to forgive me my awkwardness with words. Indeed Madam I am obliged to ask you to forgive me for another much more pressing slight against your person. When we met last week I behaved abominably by abandoning you in the cemetery in such an ungentlemanly manner: it would be foolish of us both not to acknowledge that my reasoning was clear, however, I had always hoped that I wasn't quite as judgemental as others of my class. In that respect I was proven quite wrong.

Please accept my apologies for my atrocious behaviour and I only hope that your progress through the rest of that day was unhindered by similarly foolish men.

    Yours,

    Reuben Pendergast.

    Dear Mr. Pendergast,
I forgive you, most would not have been so generous as you were and I cannot hold it against you for doing as most others would have done far sooner than you.

You prove your kindness simply by writing to me when most would chose to set their hands on fire before having any sort of correspondence with me. I hope you did not set your hands - or anything else - on fire after writing to me, I imagine it would be rather uncomfortable.
    Yours,
    Freya Abbott

    My dear Mrs Abbott,

Others hands might burn, mine do not. I fear I have contributed to a remarkable lack of chivalry in your life and though I know I cannot redress the balance entirely with a simple gesture please permit me the impudence of attempting to sooth my own guilty conscience.

You may think that others acting in that manner means that my own actions were permissible but I am inclined to disagree. I have never cared to hold myself against the actions of others and several wrongs against you do not make mine any less so.

    Yours,

    Reuben Pendergast.

    Dear Mr. Pendergast,
They are so beautiful! You are the first person to send me flowers in such a very long time! They are so bright and cheerful they bring a smile to my face!

You are very harsh on yourself, Mr. Pendergast, I think you are one of the nicest men in all of Hogsmeade and if you only knew how much the smallest kindness means to me, you would not be so.
    Yours,
    Freya Abbott

    Dear Mrs Abbott,

It pains me to think that you consider my humble offering the height of kindness. I confess I have taken it upon myself to discover the particulars of your story and slowly, through weeding out the hearsay and rumours, I believe I have become knowledgeable of your various woes. If it sounds unusual for me to take such an interest I can assure you there is nothing sinister in it.

My actions were cowardly but it pains me to realise that they were simply the latest in a continual sequence of wrongs done to you madam.

If you require any future kindness please do not hesitate to ask it of me.
    With regards,

    Reuben Pendergast.

    Dear Mr. Pendergast,

If you truly knew of my misfortunes you would surely abhor me for them as everyone else does and if by some miracle you do know the truth of my plight then you are without a doubt the most understanding and benevolent person I have ever had the fortune to meet.

    Your generosity is truly appreciated.

    With Every Good Wish,
    Freya Abbott
