Within both of these, however, lies the undercurrent of duty: the notion that his actions reflect not only upon him, but on his siblings and parents reins in his behaviour in all respects, though not, perhaps, as much as the rest of the Potter clan might like.
Boggart: Himself, advanced in years, covered in tattered rags and completely alone.

Current Age: 21
Occupation: Minister of Magic
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor Alumnus
Wand: Oak, 10", firm, dragon heartstring
Blood Status: Pureblood
Social Class: Upper Class
Family:
- Though boasting an extensive extended family, Darcyââ¬â¢s is a much more modest immediate family:
Jameson Potter, Father [1826-1882]
Elspeth Potter née Yaxley, Mother [1837-1877]
Bennet Potter, Brother [1859]
Charlotte Potter, Sister [1865-1883]
Eulalie Potter née Whitlock, Wife [1866]
Jameson Potter, Son [1883]
Phineas Black II, Son [1883]
- Darcy isn't a man that one might find particularly imposing. His lean frame stands at five feet, eight inches and generally weighs around a hundred and fifty-five pounds; while his bearing tends to make him come across as slightly larger, his easygoing demeanour prevents him from appearing threatening. Though left-handed, Darcy has always been ââ¬Ëencouragedââ¬â¢ to write with his right, and has achieved passable handwriting with that hand; it is only in the casting of spells that those around him simply let it slide without a second thought.
His face is a plain one, angular, but rarely without at least the hint of a smile on his face. Dark eyes and thin lashes are accented by equally dark hair, well-kept if a bit shaggier than the current fashion. Where clothing is concerned he prefers simple styles from the more expensive lines, feeling anything too ornate to be ostentatious and more hassle than it's worth.
- 1862 |Darcy was born the middle child and second son to Jameson and Elspeth Potter, residents of one of London's more fashionable districts. Even as an infant, he was a bit of an attention seeker, affording the family's nurse far more sleepless nights than his brother ever had.
1865 |At the tender age of three, Darcy's position as the youngest Potter in the household came to the end of its term with the arrival of his lone sister, Charlotte. Not yet old enough to fully understand the ramifications of his place within the family, he simply saw the new baby as competition for the attention to which he was accustomed, though his advancement in years meant he was old enough (more or less) to at least trail along after his elder brother Bennet.
1868 |Book learning quickly proved to be far from Darcy's cup of tea, the young lad plainly preferring to spend his time playing, be it pranks or with toys. More of a nuisance to his tutor than anything else, it was only after stern words from his father and a strap across the behind that he began sitting through his lessons without a fuss, though his lacklustre performance would go on to cause some concern to his parents.
1873 |At last, it was off to Hogwarts! While the freedom of being out of the household was something new to Darcy, he quickly learned that the school was not quite the open-ended adventure he had anticipated. Possessing, as some do, the cardinal traits of all the houses prevented his sorting from being instantaneous, however within a matter of moments he saw himself sorted into Gryffindor. In no time it became evident that the academic rigor at Hogwarts was quite different to that he had experienced at home, but the greatest transition for Darcy was the social one: he now attended classes with the children of kitchen workers, of housekeepers, of gardeners. Interaction between the classesââ¬âaside from the employer/servant relationshipââ¬âwas something quite foreign to him, and took some time to adjust to.
1876-1877 |Her name was Livinia, and she was a goddess. Prim and proper, as all women of the upper class should be, in Darcy's eyes the only issue with such a pairing was that she was in her seventh year, and he his fourth...the fact that she hadn't the faintest idea of his existence was simply a mere trifle, something that could be overcome with ease. It never was, and infatuation quickly died away as such budding affections are so apt to do (though not, unfortunately, before a few shabbily penned love poems found their way to her via owl, something that Charlotte did not allow him to live down for the next three years).
Just as emotional changes were occurring in Darcy's own subset of the world, so too were changes occurring in the wizarding world at large. With the shifting tensions between muggles and magic-users intensifying over the years, it was only a matter of time before the latter would retreat to their own company: Hogsmeade. Though the village's premise was both practical and beneficial, it was not welcomed by all with open arms. Elspeth Potter, so shocked by the shunning she received from London society, fell ill with fever, and passed away in October, leaving Jameson Potter a widower, who would retreat to Parisian society two years later.
1877-1878 |The OWL year. For a young man who had spent the past several years doing only the work needed to get by, preferring to focus his attentions on more entertaining endeavours, the drastic change in his professors' expectations was quite startling. Nevertheless, Darcy rose to the challenge presented him, scraping several Es and even an O or two (at least, in the courses he felt to be worthwhile. His failing OWLs in History of Magic and Arithmancy are simply not discussed). The year was also one of some disappointment to Mr. Potter, who had expected the younger son, as was the case with the senior, to be made a prefect. Though Darcy's attitude within the school had matured with him over the years, he was still far from prefect material.
1879-1880 |A year of change. Upon completion of of his NEWT testing, Darcy opted to obtain apartments within Hogsmeade, rather than moving to Paris (as his father had done) or residing with his elder brother in the Potters' home in the village. His family's influence, though not as great as it had been in earlier years, helped to earn the gentleman an intern position within the Ministry, which he maintains today in the hopes of rising to greater status as time progresses.
1881-1882 |When the Minister of Magic was "asked" to step down after a particularly embarrassing (and illegal) incident with regards to blood prejudices, the election to follow was something of a free for all. Without any real idea as to how he might fare, the ambitious wizard tossed his own hat into the ring - and, somehow, managed to succeed. Darcy's actions as Minister have been met with some resistance, culminating in his kidnap and impersonation in July of 1882. He was rescued by his intern, Leopold Trelawney. Darcy married Eulalie Whitlock on July 30th of that same year. Oh, and his father was struck by lightning and died.
1883 | After his sister goes missing, she is confirmed to be deadââ¬âDarcy is entirely unaware that she has become a vampire. Distressed, he cuts off contact with his brother for some time. Later in the year, his wife delivers a healthy infant son that they Christen after his father. In the fall, Bennet becomes engaged.
Personality: Years and necessity have seemed to have given Darcy two distinct personalities, one the dutiful, ambitious gentleman and the other the cocky, gambling layabout. Within both of these, however, lies the undercurrent of duty: the notion that his actions reflect not only upon him, but on his siblings and parents reins in his behaviour in all respects, though not, perhaps, as much as the rest of the Potter clan might like.
- A GAMBLER: Always a risk taker, Darcy's penchant for gambling is certainly his most admonishable vice. Though his status as second son doesn't exactly allow him to roll about in galleons, his personal finances are great enough to allow him to play at cards quite often... and bet on the weekend's big quidditch match, engage in silly bets with his friends, play at dice, and tip barmaids lavishly. Most know of such hobbies, but overlook them in favour of his more desirable traits, an enabling attitude that does nothing to prevent him from continuing. Though careful never to go too far into debt, many a month has seen the young wizard relying on credit towards the end of it.
A BROWN-NOSER: If nothing else, Darcy is well versed in whose favour he needs to be in to get what he wantsââ¬âand is more than happy to do so. Around the office he is eager to please his superiors, taking on extra work in order to move forward within his career. While this doesn't necessarily endear him to his peers, who often expect him to be the same lazy party boy that he is outside of the office, he is quick to extend his regard to those among the lower ranks of the ministry who might rise quite high in the future.
A RELUCTANT FAMILY MAN: However he might disagree with his father's choices, Darcy is typically resigned to adhering to themââ¬âexcept where behavioural changes are concerned. Quite partial to the majority of his relatives (for the most part), he does what he can to see to it that all is well with them, particularly his only sister.
A SMUG BASTARD: Darcy is the sort to come across as a bit cocky... largely because he is. Well aware of what he has, from traits to possessions, whether he's worked for it or not, the man is not hesitant to make these things known to those around him. Generally thinking himself better than those in the room with him, his haughty nature can sometimes alienate those who are not of a similar mindsetââ¬âluckily for Darcy, most of those he chooses to associate with are.
A CLOSETED BRAIN: Darcy is intelligentââ¬âand he has the grades to prove it. Application, though, has always been something of a weak point for him, never the sort to put in the effort if he didn't need to (resulting in a particularly unbalanced transcript upon completion at Hogwarts). Not one for political or philosophical discussion, he will at times surprise those around him by offering a succinct and meaningful analysis of a situation at hand, if only so as to move on to a topic that doesn't bore him quite as much.
Boggart: Himself, advanced in years, covered in tattered rags and completely alone.
Amortentia: Cinnamon, the forest after a heavy rainfall, and the ocean.
