Appearance:
- Despite her lofty thinking habits, Amy herself hovers only slightly above average height at 5'4". Though on the thin side, she has some wiry muscle from riding. She tends towards sun-touched skin rather than the (as she sees it) ghostly pallor of her peers, which can easily be attributed to her love of the outdoors. Her favorite feature is her plump, naturally pink lips. Unlike some of her siblings she has wavy blonde hair and her eyes are dark green-grey, the latter of which she inherited from her mother. Left-handed, Amy keeps her nails neatly short and her wand within reach at all times. Her wardrobe is tasteful but made up of mostly old-fashioned robes and dresses as she's never been one to be bothered with keeping up with fashion.
History:
Birth and Childhood
- In the summer of 1861, Amelia Celandine is born, the last of Alexander and Annaleise's girls. Her early years are spent as many average little girls' are with plenty of pink ribbons and mobiles, though with slobber from the family dog making a guest appearance more often than the usual. From the start she seems to get along better with her older siblings - when they aren't away at school - more than any playmates her own age. Her mother takes to calling her her "little old soul". Amelia learns to read faster than some of her other siblings had, and it's not something that much surprises her parents or her governess.
Like her brother, she enjoys going out with their mother to help her in her charitable efforts. Amelia will, later on in life, cite this early exposure to the plights of others for her firm stance against the huge wealth gap and the abandonment of the lower classes by Britain's wizarding state.
Her first mishap with accidental magic happens in 1871 when she runs out of bread at a charity soup kitchen sponsored in part by her parents, after which she reaches into the pocket of her apron and pulls out a scrawny but previously nonexistent loaf of rye. She displays her magical talents later in life than most of her siblings, and had been quite worried about turning out to be a squib despite all of her siblings expressed powers, so it is quite a relief when it finally happens.
Hogwarts Years
- Her Hogwarts letter arrives almost exactly a year after she first shows magical ability and Amelia can't be more ecstatic to finally see what all the fuss is about. The last of the Scamander children is sorted, rather promptly, into Ravenclaw. She excels in almost all of her classes, though she is more afraid of heights than she likes to show in her Flying class. Even though Amelia is far from shy, she is picky about her close friends and thus doesn't have a large group of them until the middle of the year as she and her classmates bond over group cram-studying for midterms.
During her summers and each term, she sends lots of letters to her sisters, who seem to all be marrying and having children. Though she herself is in no rush to follow suit, she feels more than a little left behind. This is especially the case when Eugene goes off to America, all the way across the Atlantic, for a whole year. Petulantly, her letters to him are only sporadic.
In the summer of that same year, she receives a letter promoting her to Ravenclaw prefect as she enters her fifth year, something that, once again, is a shock to none. Her OWL scores reflect the discipline that gave her said position:

She receives a second letter the following summer, this time notifying her of her praiseworthy OWLs scores. Her sixth year is rather uneventful and her summer follows simmering suit. Amelia passes her final year pondering what she will do with herself after graduation, hoping to have a few years of freedom before marrying - for love, as her parents encouraged her sisters to do before her - but unsure of what she would use them for in any case.
It is in her NEWT level Muggle Studies class that she is exposed first to John Locke and Rumi, among other philosophers and poets. Her curiously as to why? and how? things work, going hand-in-hand, only flourish as she approaches graduations, her Coming Out, and her NEWTs. Her NEWT scores were just as impressive as her OWLs:

As her final year unwinds before her, the only stress she has is that of a debutante. Honestly, she had little worries of finding a husband not only because of her pedigree or her family's connections but also because of her own easy charm with people. Amelia debuts to society in 1879 a few months before her eighteenth birthday, and she finally feels like she may have a path in life even though the muggle aspects of her interest might invoke distaste in some of her peers.
Post-Graduation
- After completing her schooling, she spends her last summer in York with her parents before moving into Hogsmeade and her brother's home. Eugene is eight years her senior, but they get along splendidly once they finally start seeing each other regularly. His wife, Hippolyta, was only a year above her in school and so Amelia has far from little company as she starts integrating herself in Hogsmeade society.
Continuing her mother's trend, she sets up a soup kitchen in the slums in 1880 to hopefully inspire some of her well-off friends to be charitable with the less fortunate. It is quite successful, though short-lived, as a break out of doxies in the area where the kitchen was located caused the place to be shut down and sold in early 1882.
Later in that same year, Amelia comes close to courtship with a Mr. --- , though the acquaintanceship leads nowhere near where she expects it to go. Her own feelings on the matter are mostly confusion and curiosity, because she had yet to consider settling down despite what one of her sisters called "Mr. ---'s obvious intentions". They see each other less and less until Amelia only sees him at the odd garden party or luncheon.
Current
- With her brother running for Minister, Amelia has been absolutely swamped with social events and interviews and letters from old acquaintances seeking renewed friendship. She wholeheartedly supports Eugene and his campaign despite her lack of a vote (which she hopes he succeeds in changing). Not only is campaign season upon them, but coming outs and seemingly random balls happen to be popping up everywhere, and she only wishes for a moment to sit down and catch her breath.
