Archelaus Lestrange vs. Lorna Van Patten

Matthew went over the rules and then turned to the first year. "Mr. Lestrange, you may begin when ready!"

Huzzah! He had made it to the third round! All in all, Arch was feeling pretty chuffed with himself. Even if he happened to lose, he was the only first year to have made it so far!

Bowing and all that respectful shit, Arch aimed a stinging hex at the dummy.

  

[Lorna Van Patten]

It was always disappointing to be up against a boy, because even a first year boy was allowed to do more exciting things than she could! Not that, Lorna thought, the Charms professor should find any charms she attempted too dull, if she managed to do them right. She set down a spare quill and tried to charm it to emit blue sparks.

  

[Matthew McGonagall]

Miss Van Patten's charm had the edge, given that she was the more experienced of the two. Mr. Lestrange hex could have been more interesting, if it had been casted on an actual person.

"The round goes to Miss Van Patten, who may also start the next."

[Lorna Van Patten]

She smiled to herself, though wasted no time in coming up with a second spell. This time, hopefully, she would be able to charm the quill to float up and begin writing invisible letters in the air.

  

[Archelaus Abney]

Arch cast a spell that would hopefully have the dummys fake leg things dance if his attempt succeeded.

This would be so much more satisfying if he could have cast it on a real person. All the people that he had been faced with had been girls. Conspiracy!

  

[Matthew McGonagall]

Miss Van Patten's quill started well, but then it suddenly lost control and just started doing gibberish in the air. Mr. Lestrange's spell, on the other hand, had been cast perfectly.

"The second round goes to Mr. Lestrange!" he announced. "Who may also start the tie-breaking one."

Arch cast the leg locking charm. He dearly wished he knew more spells but he was realistic enough to know that he was quite lucky to have made it so far in the tournament. He mentally thanked the book he had gotten for his birthday.

  

[Lorna Van Patten]

Well, oh dear. Sticking with the quill even if it had seen her mess up her last spell, Lorna attempted to charm it to chirp a birdsong.

  

[Matthew McGonagall]

Both displays had been casted well. However, Matthew felt that Miss Van Patten's was a tad more exciting. "Miss Van Patten takes the duel and five points for Gryffindor!" he declared
