A Bit Belated

I hope you finally rid yourself of that appalling tagalong you had at our last meeting. Whichever cousin sent it really ought to be dealt with in a hurry.

However, I suppose it did serve a purpose—for I’ve enclosed a locket as a belated birthday gift. It is nothing particularly extravagant, but did once belong to a particularly formidable aunt of mine who I daresay you would have gotten along with like a house on fire. Provided, of course, she did not hex you on sight for daring to take up an occupation.

It is a shame indeed cousins (and some of their gifts, it seems) can not be disposed of quite the same as employees can! However, I believe I have served enough of a reminder to my dear cousin that he may just put some more thought into his gifts in the future, and my faith in his elder sister is enough to assure me his life may be quite intolerable for some time to come.

Once again you are too generous, sir. The locket it certainly very fine, as I have no doubt it’s previous owner was also. Had you not served such a warning, I may have expressed it being a pity I had not had chance to make her acquaintance- I am rather fond, however, of not being cursed, so I feel that perhaps it is for the best!
