What The Tea Gave Me

February of 1883

A patient had suggested he try the tropical fruit mix tea at the Irvingly casino. He'd done an at-home visit, as that particular magical bug had rendered his wife unable to move. Something about the limbs turning elephant-like. (Literally, her legs had turned into an elephant's.) Thankfully, this bug was not serious. He'd prescribed her two potions and left. 

He'd ordered that particular tea, but upon having a sniff of it, he made a face. It wasn't like it didn't smell nice... It was just that it didn't smell like fruit. It smelled like... grass and cleanness and his and Lock's favourite candy at Honeyduke's. 

It was probably all in his head, but still he stopped a waitress that was passing by his table to ask her: "Excuse me but does this tea smell a bit... peculiar to you, too?"

"Sir?" Tuesday replied, seeming somewhat surprised by the man's question. It wasn't quite the most peculiar question, for sometimes patrons of the Casino could be rather picky, but somehow she hadn't been expecting it.

Even so, the young waitress leaned down to lightly sniff at the drink, the swirling steam curling delicately around her face. It didn't smell odd. Slightly floral - lilac maybe - fresh and with a hint of lemon. A comforting scent, perfect for warm cup of tea.

"I don't think so. It smells lovely," she told the man as she straightened again, looking down at him with a pleasant smile. Tuesday suddenly felt quite relaxed, different than just a few minutes ago. Maybe she needed a cup of tea too. "But I can get you something else, if you'd like?"

"Oh, no no!" Noah said. He then realized how his question might have sounded. "It's not that it doesn't smell lovely... Just not like what I expected!" If anything, it smelled lovelier than he would have expected... Oddly enough.

It then occured to him to ask: "What does it smell like for you?" 

Now that was just stupid. Nonetheless, he'd asked. "Surely you can smell the... chocolate-ness, too?"

Now Tuesday was entirely confused and it showed on her face. "Chocolate?" she echoed, cocking her head to the side as she stepped forward slightly, lowering the tray she held in her hands to the side as she considered the cup.

It was fragrant enough that she could smell it without bending down again. "I didn't smell any chocolate, sir" she admitted, curious now. Was this a special blend of tea similar to wine where there were different notes that made themselves apparent to different tastes.

"Does it taste like chocolate?" she questioned, looking at the dark liquid, perplexed. Truly she should be getting back to work before any of the customers felt neglected, but she needed to know what they were serving today, right?

That was really odd, because the chocolate-ness was the most prominent amongst the smells. Besides, chocolate wasn't a smell that was easy to miss... especially when it came out of a cup of tea!

"I wouldn't know, I haven't tasted it yet," Noah admitted. "Perhaps we should both have a sip and see what it tastes like?" Noah suspected that it'd have a different taste for the both of them, seeing that they both smelled different things.

Oh, sharing a drink with a customer was highly inappropriate, Tuesday thought with slight disappointment, for she was terribly intrigued by this drink. But what did it really matter, if she was already of a lower class and likely looked down upon by most of the patrons here? As long as her boss or coworkers didn't see to rat her out, what could it hurt?

After a quick look around the establishment to ensure that no one was paying the two of them any never mind, Tuesday gave the man two subtle waves. "Go on," she encouraged, voice lowered and feeling slightly silly for such an interest in a small thing like the flavor of a tea. But she was interested and watched with curiosity as the man tipped the cup back and took a sip.

"Well?" she inquired when he lowered the cup. "Is it chocolate? Or flowery with lemon?" The lilac had been so strong, there was no way he couldn't taste it!

The tea had a mesmerizing effect on him. It wasn't very hot and yet he felt as though a gentle flame had travelled down his digestive system. It was like drinking alcohol, in a sense, but not quite.

And then his waitress spoke up and Noah felt as though someone had opened up a window somewhere  which had allowed sunlight in the room because he regarded her with a different light now. 

"It was lovely... But not as lovely as you!" he said, feeling himself blushing but also not feeling embarrassment or anything, because paying her compliments seemed like the most proper thing to do. "Oh, you must taste it yourself!" He placed the cup on the table on front of her.

Tuesday felt herself blushing at the sudden compliment, also noticing the slight change in demeanor of the man. But he seemed so insistent that she should try it now and so she ignored her embarrassment for the time being and reached for the cup.

"You didn't tell me what it tasted like," she reminded him, before taking a small sip herself. She too felt a similar sensation, her cheeks flushing a brighter pink as a serene warmth spread over her.

The rest of the cafe seemed to disappear then, for nothing else mattered except the man sitting in front of her. "Oh, you're right," she said as she returned the cup to the table, although she was not looking at where she set it down as her eyes were only for him, a dreamy expression on her face. "But you're perfect, aren't you?" She didn't know where the words came from at all, but somehow they didn't seem wrong!

"You think so?" Noah exclaimed. Suddenly it mattered a lot to him if his waitress thought of him. He didn't even know her name, but he knew that she was the one.

"Can I have the privilege of knowing your name?" Noah asked. "I'm Noah Hatchitt." Suddenly, he wished he came from a more esteemed family. The Hatchitts were respectable and well-liked, but it wasn't like they were the Windsors or the Lestranges.

With a soft smile on her face, Tuesday nodded. Of course she thought this man was utterly perfect! How could she not? He was more handsome than any man she'd ever seen before and so kind. Her heart pounded in her chest and she also wished for him to think well of her, although she too suddenly felt a little underwhelming. Although she had a nice uniform for work, her shoes were worn and she simply felt like a mess.

Even so, she continued to beam at the man, perfectly content with his attentions. "Tuesday Rohlwing," she replied, holding out her right hand to him as a proper lady might, although she was far from it, shyly twirling a strand of her dark locks around the finger of her left.

"Tuesday is my favourite day of the week!" Noah declared as he rose from his seat and clasped Tuesday's hands in his. He smiled foolishly at her. Looking at her gave him such joy! Normally, when he had such feelings about women he was too shy to look at them, but Tuesday was different.

"I want to spend every Tuesday of my life with you!" suddenly he decided. "And every other day, too!"

Ordinarily Tuesday would have been very concerned about any man basically proposing to her in the span of five minutes, but today no thought of it crossed her mind. Instead, she squeezed Noah's hands gingerly, looking up at him with love in her eyes, completely unaware that there was something else that was affecting the both of them!

"Do you really?" she questioned, a happy lilt to her voice. "Oh, I would be the luckiest girl in the world then!"

"Yes!" Noah confirmed. He wanted to steal her away like they did in the stories. With her consent, of course, which, in their present situation, he had. Oh, how they'd regret these choices once the Amortentia wore off...

"But your family will try to stop us for sure... We must run away before they try to stop us!"

"Then we go and get married!" Tuesday insisted, holding Noah's hands tightly. Normally, she would have wanted her family to be involved in a matter as important as marriage, but right now, under the influence of the Amorentia, they were the furthest from her mind.

So, too, was the fact that she was supposed to be working! But she was getting married! Surely love was an understandable excuse to leave? Did she even need a job now? She could be a wife, a mother! That was what mattered, right?

"Yes, we shall!" Noah said. 

How did he go about doing that, though? The first answer that came to mind was to ask his parents. They had sort of abandoned him and his sisters to re-live their honeymoon somewhere in India, but they where his parents still.

They'd have to get to India.

With no further ado, Noah somehow managed to apparate them to a place where they could get a portkey to India, where the two of them woke up the next day. 

In the bed of some motel. Sharing a bed.

Tuesday was slow to wake with as tired as she was and as comfortable as the bed was. When she finally did waken, she stretched languidly... Only to have her fingers brush up against the skin of someone else!

Surprised, she sat up quickly, only to find that she was naked and in bed with a strange man! With a squeak, she tugged the disheveled blankets to cover herself. But in doing so, she entirely uncovered the man, which only made her blush hard before pulling the sheets over her head!

"Oh God. Oh God!" she breathed, continuing to hide herself. What had happened!? As she tried to remember, her head felt very fuzzy, although she could recall very intimate things happening in this bed!
