Dearest Sister

Dearest Juniper,

I apologize that we didn't say good-bye. Andrew and I are staying with one of his uncles in India - he doesn't know what I am. It is a stress to have to pretend, but it is a pleasure to not be bound by English laws as tightly.

I have some significant news. Two pieces of significant news, neither of which are things you ought to share with our family. The first is, well, Andrew and I have eloped. We're husband and wife now, and we've taken up one of the more private rooms in Mr. Lyness's home for now. I don't know when we'll be returning, but I'll stay in touch.

The other news? Well...I was keeping something of a secret for the last couple of months. You're to be an aunt, my dear sister, an aunt! I know this news must be delightful, and I am expecting an angry letter back, but please understand we left to keep ourselves safe, to keep me safe. Wouldn't want anything happening to us because of the ridiculous laws set upon us by the fools who govern.

Stay safe, and by God, please try to tone it down a little! I would like to still have a sister when we come back!
