Appearance:

Distinctly like her sister Gwenda in appearance, Elaine is very pretty with wide brown eyes and brown hair and a pleasant, heart-shaped face. Of average height at five feet and one inch and in possession of a slim build, Elaine enjoys the latest fashions as much as any young woman though dares not wear anything too bold—Merlin forbid she draw a man's attention to her appearance! She is right handed.

History:

1866 | Elaine is born and is a cheerful, relatively untaxing child.

1867 | Tristan is born, though Elaine is much too young to understand where he came from and why, being little more than a babe herself. 

1869 | Gawain leaves for Hogwarts and Elaine misses him, though has always preferred Gwenda's company and she will obviously never leave her! Gawain is sorted into Gryffindor.

1871 | Tegan joins Gawain at Hogwarts.

1875 | Old enough by now to understand that Gwenda will be leaving for school, as the rest of their siblings have done save Tristan, Elaine is somewhat prepared to wave her sister off for Hogwarts come September but is no less saddened by her absence. The house is quieter with only she and Tristan to fill it, and Elaine fills the void with a growing love of art.

1876 | Gawain begins his internship at St Mungo's and returns home, much to Elaine's pleasure.

1877 | Elaine's turn finally comes and she joins Gwenda at Hogwarts in the very same house! Though perhaps something of a nuisance at first, following her sister around the corridors and the common roon, Elaine quickly makes her own friends. 

1879 | Elaine bonds with a first year student named Gwyneth Cadwallader who is as fond of art as she is. Tristan joins them at Hogwarts and is sorted into Gryffindor. Tegan marries a muggle and moves to Bath. The Carmichael's relocate to Wellingtonshire and Gawain transfers to Hogsmeade Hospital.

1880 | Tegan gives birth to baby Enid.

1882 | Gwenda graduates and Tegan gives birth to a second child, Pryce.

1884 | Elaine graduates and enjoys a less then stellar first season, not least because of her own disinterest. She doesn't quite understand the need to hurry and insists she intends to only marry for true love (and with so many unfaithful spouses and fickle husbands, surely that doesn't exist!) which does not go down particularly well with her mother, but until Gwenda is married Elaine believes herself to be temporarily off the hook.

Alas, Elaine values her sister's happiness too much to see her end up an unhappy spinster just to suit her own utter lack of her interest.

Enter Operation: Cadmichael.

Elaine and Gwyneth join forces to set up Gwenda and Gwyneth's brother, Mr. Llewellyn Carmichael, and see them eventually united in matrimony. Eventually. The longer it takes, the better!

The rest of the year is no better than her lackluster debut. Gawain's brief engagement to Miss Carstairs is severed when his fiancee leaves the country and Elaine is quite miffed on her brother's behalf.  Elaine's father decides to run for Minister of Magic and makes something of a fool of himself in the process. 

1885 | Her father loses a leg while investigating a case. Perhaps the only good thing to come of the accident is that he is forced to retire from his position as Head Auror, thankfully ensuring his future safety. Tegan gives birth to another boy she names James.

1886 | Elaine and Gwyneth's hard work pays off and Gwenda and Mr. Cadwallader are engaged! Her mother is thankfully diverted by wedding plans but Elaine knows that her time is running out, a fact that causes her particular disappointment when Gwyneth graduates and is allowed to get a job when Elaine's own parents still refuse to even consider the idea of her designing stationary, a career she considers to be far more ladylike than working in a museum. Increasingly bitter (at least on the inside) Elaine decides the only way forward is self-sabotage, and vows to chase away all future suitors—as subtly as possible.

Personality:

A sensitive, thoughtful young woman, what Elaine lacks in academic promise she more than makes up for with artistic talent and has proved to be quite gifted indeed. Not that it matters, because her parents have no intention of allowing her to utilise that talent no matter how ladylike her ideal career might be, and Elaine has become increasingly jaded by her disappointment and frustration, though strictly beneath the surface. Though she is not at all romantically inclined, Elaine nonetheless has a great capacity for love and is utterly devoted to her family and friends.
