Ain't No Party Like a Tabitha Wood Tea Party

It was just after breakfast, when Tabitha started actually waking up. When she had to help with breakfast were the only times her hair was arranged neatly in plaits around her head. She'd stacked objects she could find around the room on top of one another so she could help cook put the dishes away. Miraculously, she avoided breaking any plates – yay! – and after she made sure that every plate was in it's place, she took off her apron, and skipped off to find Declan. He would probably still be asleep.

"Declaaaaaann!" she called, scampering into her brother's room, her stuffed animal dragging behind her. She took the sleeve of her brother's coat and tugged it. "Declan, come have a tea party with me!" she chirped, doing her very best to haul her brother towards the door. She knew he'd protest, which is why she'd (unsuccessfully) put (what she thought was) a sticking charm on her hand so her brother wouldn't be able to tug away from her unless he took his shirt off (ew) and leapt out the window.

Declan didn't get to sleep in very often. Cavanaugh had given him the day off - he'd stayed up later than usual working on some sketches in anticipation of the extra hours to sleep in the morning. Apparently, he'd underestimated his sister's demand for his attention. He groaned as he heard her scuffling around. She'd come bounding inside in a matter of minutes - door closed or no. He stumbled out of bed and groggily dressed.

He was just in time to throw his sheets over the loose sketches (he didn't want to answer questions about why he was drawing nude women) just as she barged in. She wanted a tea party, of all things!

He roughly rubbed his face with his free hand. His voice was scratchy, "Tabbi, 'm tired - can we do it later?" Maybe she'd forget by then... He coughed to clear the sleep from his throat and tried to pull away from the little girl's tugging, only to realize that he couldn't.

"What- what is this, now?" He exclaimed in confusion as he tried to pull away from her once more.

She knew he would try and escape! With a triumphant "ha!" she punched the air with her fist - the free one, anyways. "No, now Declan!" she said, tugging him with her. "I want to tea now! We have time, don't we?" She continued to tug him. He was heavier than she thought. Why was he resisting though! She pouted, her hand still stuck to his elbow...

Her hand was still stuck to his elbow. Tabi stopped attempting to escape. Staring at her brother's elbow, she attempted to remove it. No luck. Her look of excitement faded on her face and replaced itself with a wide eyed look. Her spell had worked?! Oh, but Declan would be so mad if he realized she didn't know how to undo it! Suddenly falling quiet, she became very interested in her shoes. "Um....I don't know." she said, tapping the toes of her shoes together.

Oy. What had the little squirt done now? Her guilt was written all over her (admittedly adorable) face. This was definitely a first. He didn't think any of their other sisters had decided to glue herself to him. It was impressive that she'd managed such a feat of magic at the age of six. It could prove to be useful for her. There was definitely some potential there.

He bent down so that they were eye level.

"Tabitha Marie Wood," He said sternly, "What have you done?" He was unable to stay serious for very long. The corner of his mouth quirked and there was amusement in his grey-green eyes. At this point, he wasn't concerned about reversing the charm. He had every confidence that he could figure it out. And if not, well, all he would need to do was remove his shirt. Perhaps he'd make her traipse around with him all day to teach her a lesson about using magic on him first...

Uh oh....he used her full name. Cheeks blossoming with embarrassment, she bit her lip, still looking down at her feet. For a second, she forgot the reason she was in trouble and attempted to withdraw her hand to put it behind her back. Then she remembered and she burst into tears. She'd done this and she would be stuck to Declan forever! Oh how would they do work?! She needed two hands to help cook, it wouldn't do to be attached to her brother for the rest of her life! That would mean they'd have to sleep in the same bed together - EWWWW!!

This made her bawl possibly even harder. "I didn't mean to, Declan!" she wailed, tears streaming down her face. "Honest, it was a - hic! -" She began hiccuping in the middle of her exclamation; an unfortunate side effect when she cried. "accident! I just wanted to get you to have a tea - hic! - party with me and I knew you'd say no so I thought maybe Id try a spell but - hic! - I didn't expect it to work!"

The tears were so sudden that he would have leapt away from her, if he could have managed it. Instead, he watched uncomfortably as she spewed out an apology. Still crouched down to her level, he awkwardly patted her shoulder with his free hand. Despite having more sisters than he could count on one hand, he still became flustered by their tears. Hell, he became flustered by any girls tears, which he saw a surprising amount of. Maybe that meant that he was part of the problem...

"It's alrigh' Tabi, I was just teasin' ya!" He exclaimed, "There's no need ta cry! I'll do your tea party and then we can figure out how to get us righ' as rain. How's that sound?"
