Appearance:

Naturally lithe and slim, Helga has gained soft curves due to excessive corset use during years prior. She stands at a short five feet, one inch tall, and weighs slightly less than average. She has a very youthful appearance, her cheeks still full and her face still rounded well into her late teenage years. She has dark brown eyes and dark brown hair that she often keeps up in a stylish updo.

Helga prefers to wear brighter colors such as yellow—the color of her Hogwarts house—and blues, though warm colors such as red and orange are also favorites. She has a slight obsession with perfumes and often smells like citrus fruit and lavender—appropriate scents for her lively and gentle personality. She is left-handed, but has also been taught by a governess to write with her right hand.

History:

1869 | Helga Scamander is born the third daughter and fourth living child of James and Delia Scamander. She's quite the boisterous child, and her tantrums are legend.

1872 | Helga's first sign of magic appears during a routine walk in the park in Diagon Alley. Upon getting spooked by a rat crossing the street, the creature flies more than ten feet backwards and lands on another person (who then proceeds to flail around from being frightened at well).

1877 | After muggle intelligence becomes aware of the wizarding world, muggle riots are sparked all over the isles. Helga's family, for precautionary measures, moves along with a large chunk of the wizarding world to Hogsmeade.

1880 | Helga goes off to Hogwarts for the first time with all her school supplies and a rodent companion named Garnish. She's sorted into Hufflepuff rather quickly, which shouldn't have been a surprise given her name—Helga. She immediately finds a liking for her Charms, Herbology, and Astronomy classes, but the same can't be said for Flying and Transfiguration. In addition to her core classes, she also takes Art and Music and finds both delightful.

1882 | Helga adds Divination and Ancient Studies to her class schedule. Garnish is killed by one of her classmate's feline companions, so she and her friends plan a funeral service for her fallen pet. Her mother gifts her with a feline friend of her own during the next summer.

1885 | Helga takes her O.W.Ls and gets the following scores: Four Os in Astronomy, Charms, Divination, and Herbology; Two Es in History of Magic and Ancient Studies; Two As in Potions and Defence Against the Dark Arts; and one P in Transfiguration. For her sixth year, she continues on with the following: Astronomy, Charms, Divination, Herbology, Ancient Studies, and History of Magic. She sadly finds no time for Art or Music class and drops both.

1886 | Helga prepares to enter her seventh year with the prospect of debutante-hood looming in the distance. She doesn't fret over her marriage prospects and is determined she'll find a husband whenever the right man comes along. In the meantime, she focuses on her studies.

Personality:

FRIENDLY | Above anything, Helga considers herself a friend to others. She constantly markets herself as a shoulder to cry on, and always does her best to make other people smile when they're feeling gloom or lonely.

NAIVE | While not dim, Helga hasn't experienced hardships in life and is therefore easy to trick into believing anything she's told. She doesn't doubt other people's motive and believes that villains and evil only exist in fairy tales.

PATIENT | Like a true Hufflepuff, Helga has no issues dealing with other people's stubbornness or waiting around for the right time to come. This comes in handy when dealing with people who are distraught. Because of this quality combined with her kindness, it used to be suggested that healing would be an appropriate career decision for her—at least before choosing her NEWT-level classes.

COMPASSIONATE | Helga can sympathize with almost anyone for anything. She often gets caught up in other people's problems, which can allow her feelings to droop if someone's feeling real pain and hardship. She does her best to spread the love to everyone in need, but when her cheerful methods don't work she's left feeling worthless.

IDEALISTIC | A true dreamer, Helga often sees the world from an optimistic lens and doesn't understand when people say that things "aren't like that". She often forgets things such as poverty exist, and when she does see it, she often believes that people are used to it and find a way to be happy. In her mind, the world is already utopian.

NONDISCRIMINATORY | Though from an upper class, pureblooded family, Helga shares no opinions with some of her extended relatives and believes in equality for all. She has no reservations to the idea of marrying a halfblood, or even a muggleborn if the man won her heart!
